The snow shuts off Çanakkale

Çanakkale Strait is closed for bidirectional transit vessel passages between 15:10 and 17:30 hours on December 13 Monday due to heavy snow. The General Directorate of Meteorology warned the officers and citizens about dust deposition due to heavy rain, strong breeze, icing and frost.

The heavy snow taking effect at Çanakkale negatively impacts the marine transportation. Upon the increase in snow starting at 14:00 on December 13, the officers of the Directorate of Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) have announced that Çanakkale Strait is closed for bidirectional transit vessel passages between 15:10 and 17:30 hours.

We hereby inform that the marine transportation might be hindered again due to bad weather conditions and the Ro-Ro vessels might berth and leave with delay.
