November 24th, The Teachers' Day
After the victory of War of Independence, Atatürk established The Republic on October 29th, 1923 and started various reforms on military, economical, social, and cultural platforms. One of those reforms was the acceptence of the Latin Alphabet rather than the Arabic. With acceptence of the new alphabet; a mobilization started to teach the new letters and improve the ratio of literacy among community. And on this regard on November 24th, 1928 National Schools was founded to teach literacy to people and Atatürk accepted the role of being The Head Teacher of the nation. Since 1981; 24th of November is celebrated as The Teachers Day in Turkey.
