Raising future generations to be more sensitive and equipped individuals is an essential element of Ekol’s corporate social responsibility policy. Ekol works hard to do its share in building a better society by supporting educational projects to raise modern generations in line with the cultural and social values of the society they belong to.

Hezarfen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School

Ekol Logistics initiated the industry’s first-ever pilot project in 2013 by building an application warehouse and computer laboratory at The Hezarfen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. Since the first day, Ekol has continuously supported education. Accordingly, it has built a 40-person capacity advanced-technology computer laboratory and application warehouses for the Technical and Industrial Occupational High School, Logistics Department–Ekol Class students.

In 2014, it built a library to help students acquire reading habits and improve the way they express themselves, made facility visits as part of on-site education sessions, and held seminars by bringing together specialist and seasoned department managers with students. The company put together booklets on warehouse management, distribution, and customs clearance so as to bring up well-equipped students for the industry.

The project allows students to do internship at Ekol facilities.

Ekol received the Special Jury award in the Social Responsibility Category at the 1st TEGEP Learning and Development Awards with its Hezarfen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Project in 2015.

Ekol Personnel High School Graduation Project

In collaboration with Hezarfen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Ekol supports its blue collar workers’ continued education with the “High School Graduation Project.” The pilot implementation group of Ekol Personnel High School Graduation Project is continuing their education. Meanwhile, 30 Ekol employees who became involved in the project in the 2014-2015 academic year completed the year successfully and moved to 11th grade. In an expansion of the project throughout Ekol, 104 employees from Istanbul facilities are now attending classes with the goal of finishing high school in the 2015–2016 school year. Face-to-face and distance learning sessions are ongoing. Students attend occupational classes logistics at Pendik Hezarfen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, and receive general knowledge classes remotely.

Ekol’s blue collar workers will get their degrees as Vocational Open Education High School, Logistics Department graduates once they earn enough credits.

“Don’t wait! Donate!” Campaign

In 2016, Ekol organized the Don’t wait! Donate! campaign and filled The Hezarfen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School’s library with books as a result of volunteer efforts by its employees. All employees volunteered to participate in the campaign through the book collection spots created at the facilities, striving to instill reading habits in students and help them to grow into good individuals for society.

Darüşşafaka- Kitapcan Parent

Ekol become the Book Parent to two classes with 25 students in collaboration with Darüşşafaka for the Kitapcan Book Gift Card project by the Books for Everyone Everywhere Foundation to give books to Darüşşafaka’s 5th grade students in the 2014-2015 and 2015-1016 school years. Ekol sponsored the project by meeting the book needs of the classes for two years.

Ekol-University Collaborations

Ekol Logistics is collaborating with universities with the awareness that young people are the future of our country. Ekol not only creates opportunities for upcoming university students to be more equipped when embarking on their careers, but also does its part in nurturing a qualified workforce as part of its responsibility in the industry by offering facility trips for universities, entering into internship agreements with prominent education institutions, and participating in career days and panel events.

In 2012, Ekol accomplished a great feat as the industry’s first and only brand to build an R&D Center in Turkey. The Ekol R&D Center implements SAN-TEZ (Industry-Supported Thesis) projects, thereby creating thesis application areas for doctorate and post-graduate students, and prepares industry-related academic publications and case studies in coordination with academic circles.

Ekol aspires to make sure university students, who are the future of Turkey, complete their education properly. As such, the company fulfills its responsibility toward university students by sponsoring a diverse range of events such as conferences, seminars, and competitions organized for them.

Facility Trips

Ekol welcomes universities’ logistics clubs at its facilities filled with state-of-the-art technology automation systems, giving them the opportunity to see the processes on-site. Students get to acquire more information about the industry in which they will pursue a future career, while appreciating the extensive scope of the logistics industry by making first-hand observations.

Ekol Logistics executives attend numerous seminars and panels every year with aspirations to share their industry know-how of many years with the logistics professionals of the future.

Internship Opportunities

Ekol offers various internship programs to university students at its facilities in different countries. As part of its agreements with universities, it offers industrial engineering and management students various positions in the projects.
