The Ekol R&D team is preparing its infrastructure for Industry 4.0, taking concrete steps to update associated processes and applications. Ekol has never ceased investing in R&D and innovation, and places Logistics 4.0 at the heart of its approach.
Industry 4.0 is a vision that involves manufacturing technologies, and the transformation it is due to bring will result in significant changes to production centers and processes. The production transformation will focus on facilitating instant interaction in all steps along the supply chain, allowing the communication-driven management of suppliers, warehouses, market shelves, vehicles on the road, and processes at smart facilities. Intelligent devices will constantly feed information on stock levels, supply chain disruptions, damaged goods, and order and supply level changes. As a consequence, processes will be reshaped to ensure efficiency and productivity.
Ekol is preparing for the Industry 4.0 revolution by thinking in terms of “Ekol 4.0”
Industry 4.0 incorporates improvements for each line of business within the logistics industry. These enhancements include cost-effective smart warehouses with flexible design and software systems, enabling real-time tracking and intervention. Their infrastructures will be adapted for new technologies, facilitating effective supply chain management. Structures able to eliminate security vulnerabilities will also be offered, with the potential to monitor and control environmental factors while enabling data-based decisions to be taken within each service network.
In view of the above, Ekol will shift its skills and resources into Logistics 4.0.
Ekol R&D and Logistics 4.0
In light of Industry 4.0 developments, Ekol is turning data into meaningful information by making objects detectable, carrying out research on self-determining technologies, and conducting pilot projects.
In line with the strategy of applying the principles of Industry 4.0, Ekol’s R&D focus has put Logistics 4.0 at its center through digitalization and visualization, process integration via the internet and mobile applications, the creation of networks between objects, cloud computing and communications technologies, and simulation and robotic systems.
The Industry’s First R&D Center
The mission of the Ekol R&D Center is to accomplish projects which are systematic, creative, original, scientific, experimental, and technical. Thanks to sound and robust technological infrastructure and experienced employees, the first R&D center of the logistics industry was launched in June 2012 with the approval of the Ministry of Science, Industry, and Technology.
